Siree Raag, Third Mehl, First House:
Everyone belongs to the One who rules the Universe.
The Gurmukh practices good deeds, and the truth is revealed in the heart.True is the reputation of the true, within whom truth abides.Those who meet the True Lord are not separated again; they come to dwell in the home of the self deep within. ||1||
O my Lord! Without the Lord, I have no other at all.The True Guru leads us to meet the Immaculate True God through the Word of His Shabad. ||1|| Pause ||
One whom the Lord merges into Himself is merged in the Shabad, and remains so merged.No one merges with Him through the love of duality; over and over again, they come and go in reincarnation.The One Lord permeates all. The One Lord is pervading everywhere.That Gurmukh, unto whom the Lord shows His Kindness, is absorbed in the Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||2||
After all their reading, the Pandits, the religious scholars, and the astrologers argue and debate.Their intellect and understanding are perverted; they just don't understand. They are filled with greed and corruption.
Through 8.4 million incarnations they wander lost and confused; through all their wandering and roaming, they are ruined.They act according to their pre-ordained destiny, which no one can erase. ||3||
It is very difficult to serve the True Guru. Surrender your head; give up your selfishness.Realizing the Shabad, one meets with the Lord, and all one's service is accepted.By personally experiencing the Personality of the Guru, one's own personality is uplifted, and one's light merges into the Light.Those who have such pre-ordained destiny come to meet the True Guru. ||4||
O mind, don't cry out that you are hungry, always hungry; stop complaining.The One who created the 8.4 million species of beings gives sustenance to all.The Fearless Lord is forever Merciful; He takes care of all.O Nanak, the Gurmukh understands, and finds the Door of Liberation. ||5||3||36||
Hindi Translation (हिंदी अनुवाद)
जिस परमेश्वर की यह सृष्टि रूपी सरकार है, प्रत्येक जीव उसका ही दास है।गुरु के उपदेशानुसार जिसने भी सद्कर्म किए हैं, उसके हृदय में सत्य स्वरूप परमात्मा प्रकट हुआ है।जिसके ह्रदय में सत्य विद्यमान है, उस गुरमुख व्यक्ति की सच्ची शोभा होती है।जब जीव सत्य स्वरूप परमेश्वर के साथ मिल जाता है, तो फिर वह उससे कभी नहीं बिछुड़ता क्योंकि उसका आत्म-स्वरूप में निवास हो जाता है॥ १॥
हे मेरे राम ! परमेश्वर के बिना मेरा अन्य कोई नहीं है।परन्तु सत्य-स्वरूप एवं पवित्र परमात्मा के साथ मिलन सतिगुरु के उपदेश द्वारा ही होता है॥ १॥ रहाउ॥
जो जीव गुरु के उपदेश को ग्रहण करते हैं, वे परमात्मा से मिल पाते हैं, लेकिन गुरु के उपदेश को भी वही प्राप्त करता है, जिस पर स्वयं परमात्मा कृपा करता है।द्वैत-भाव रखने वाले को परमात्मा नहीं मिलता तथा वह जीव इस संसार में पुनः पुनः आता-जाता रहता है।समस्त प्राणियों में वह एक ही परमात्मा व्याप्त है और सभी जगह वही समाया हुआ है।जिस पर वह स्वयं कृपालु होता है, वही गुरुमुख जीव नाम-सिमरन में लीन होता है॥ २॥
विद्वान तथा ज्योतिषी लोग ग्रंथों को पढ़-पढ़ कर वाद-विवाद निमित्त विचार करते हैं।ऐसे लोगों की बुद्धि तथा विवेक भटक जाते हैं और वे यह नहीं समझते कि उनके अंतर्मन में लोभ का विकार है।वे चौरासी लाख योनियों में भटकते रहते हैं और भटक-भटक कर अपमानित होते हैं।पूर्व कर्मानुसार जो लेख भाग्य में लिखे हैं, उन्हें भोगना ही होगा, उन्हें कोई नहीं मिटा सकता॥ ३॥
सतिगुरु की सेवा करना अति विषम है, इस कार्य के लिए सिर और अहंत्व का त्याग करना पड़ता है।गुरु की सेवा करते हुए जो गुरु-उपदेश प्राप्त होता है उसी से प्रभु-प्राप्ति संभव है तब जाकर कहीं सेवा सफल होती है।गुरु रूपी पारस के संकर्षण से जीव पारस हो जाता है तथा आत्मिक ज्योति परम ज्योति में अभेद हो जाती है।पूर्व-जन्म के कर्मानुसार प्रारब्ध में जिनके लिखा है, उन्हें सतिगुरु आकर मिला है॥ ४॥
है जीव ! तुम ऐसी बात मत कहो कि मैं भूखा हूँ, मैं भूखा हूँ और न ही चीख-चीख कर पुकार करो।चौरासी लाख योनियों के रूप में जिसने सृष्टि की रचना की है, वही परमात्मा समस्त जीवों को आश्रय देता है।भय-रहित परमात्मा सदैव दयालु रहा है, वह सभी की रक्षा करता है।नानक देव जी कथन करते हैं कि यह सब क्रीड़ा गुरुमुख जीव ही समझता है और वही मोक्ष-द्वार को प्राप्त करता है॥ ५ ॥ ३॥ ३६ ॥
