Siree Raag, Third Mehl:
Those who hear and believe, find the home of the self deep within.Through the Guru's Teachings, they praise the True Lord; they find the Lord, the Treasure of Excellence.Attuned to the Word of the Shabad, they are immaculate and pure. I am forever a sacrifice to them.Those people, within whose hearts the Lord abides, are radiant and enlightened. ||1||
O my mind, meditate on the Immaculate Lord, Har, Har.Those whose have such pre-ordained destiny written on their foreheads-those Gurmukhs remain absorbed in the Lord's Love. ||1|| Pause ||
O Saints, see clearly that the Lord is near at hand; He is pervading everywhere.Those who follow the Guru's Teachings realize Him, and see Him Ever-present.He dwells forever in the minds of the virtuous. He is far removed from those worthless people who lack virtue.The self-willed manmukhs are totally without virtue. Without the Name, they die in frustration. ||2||
Those who hear and believe in the Word of the Guru's Shabad, meditate on the Lord in their minds.Night and day, they are steeped in devotion; their minds and bodies become pure.The color of the world is false and weak; when it washes away, people cry out in pain.Those who have the Radiant Light of the Naam within, become steady and stable, forever and ever. ||3||
The blessing of this human life has been obtained, but still, people do not lovingly focus their thoughts on the Name of the Lord.Their feet slip, and they cannot stay here any longer. And in the next world, they find no place of rest at all.This opportunity shall not come again. In the end, they depart, regretting and repenting.Those whom the Lord blesses with His Glance of Grace are saved; they are lovingly attuned to the Lord. ||4||
They all show off and pretend, but the self-willed manmukhs do not understand.Those Gurmukhs who are pure of heart-their service is accepted.They sing the Glorious Praise of the Lord; they read about the Lord each day. Singing the Praise of the Lord, they merge in absorption.O Nanak, the words of those who are lovingly attuned to the Naam are true forever. ||5||4||37||
Hindi Translation (हिंदी अनुवाद)
जिन जीवों ने गुरु-उपदेश श्रवण करके उसका चिन्तन किया है, उनका निज-स्वरूप घर में वास हुआ है।जिन्होंने गुरु-उपदेश ग्रहण करके सत्य परमात्मा की स्तुति की है, उन्होंने गुण-निधान हरि को प्राप्त किया है।जो गुरुओं की वाणी में लीन हैं, वे पवित्रात्मा हैं और मैं उन पर बलिहारी जाता हूँ।जिनके हृदय में हरि का निवास है, उनके हृदय में ज्ञान रूपी प्रकाश होता है ॥१॥
हे मेरे मन ! उस पवित्र प्रभु का नाम-सुमिरन कर।जिनके मस्तिष्क पर आदि से ही प्रभु का नाम सुमिरन लिखा हुआ है, वे गुरुमुख बनकर उसमें लीन हो जाते हैं।॥ १॥ रहाउ॥
हे संत जनो ! अपनी दिव्य दृष्टि से देखो कि वह परमेश्वर परिपूर्ण होकर सभी के अंत:करण में व्याप्त है।जिन्होंने गुरु-उपदेश के मार्ग पर चल कर उस परमेश्वर को पहचाना है, वे प्रायः उसे अपने समक्ष ही देखते हैं।जो सद्गुणी जीव हैं, उनके हृदय में सदा हरि वास करता है, अवगुणी जीवों से वह दूर ही रहता है।स्वेच्छाचारी (मनमुख) जीव गुण-रहित होते हैं और वे बिना नाम-सुमिरन किए यूं ही दुखी होकर मरते हैं॥ २॥
जिन्होंने गुरु-उपदेश को सुन कर उसको मान लिया है, उन्होंने ही उस हरि-परमात्मा को हृदय में स्मरण किया है।प्रतिदिन भक्ति में अनुरक्त होने के कारण उनका तन-मन पवित्र हो जाता है।जिस प्रकार कुसुम्भ पुष्प का रंग अस्थिर होता है उसी प्रकार भौतिक पदार्थ भी अस्थिर हैं, उनका नाश हो जाने से जीव दुख में व्याकुल होकर रोता है।जिसके हृदय में नाम का प्रकाश है, वह सदा-सदा के लिए प्रभु में स्थिर होता है॥ ३॥
यह मानव-जन्म रूपी पदार्थ पाकर जो जीव एकाग्रचित होकर प्रभु-नाम को स्मरण नहीं करता।वह श्वास रूपी पांव फिसलने के कारण इस संसार में भी नहीं रहता और उसे परलोक में भी ठिकाना नहीं मिलता।फिर यह मानव-जन्म का समय हाथ नहीं लगता तथा अंत में प्रायश्चित करता हुआ इस संसार से चला जाता है।जिन पर परमेश्वर की कृपा होती है, वे परमात्मा में लिवलीन होकर आवागमन के चक्र से बच जाते हैं।॥ ४॥
एक-दूसरे को देख कर तो सभी नाम-सुमिरन करने लगते हैं, लेकिन स्वेच्छाचारी इसे समझ नहीं पाता।जिन गुरुमुख जीवों का हृदय पवित्र है, उनकी उपासना सफल होती है।ऐसे जीव कीर्तन द्वारा हरि का गुणगान करते हैं और धर्म-ग्रंथों में हरि के गुणों को पढ़ते हैं तथा हरि के गुणों को गाते हुए उसी में समाधिस्थ हो जाते हैं।नानक देव जी कथन करते हैं कि जो जीव प्रभु-नाम में लिवलीन रहते हैं, उनकी वाणी सदा सत्य होती है॥ ५॥ ४॥ ३७ ॥
