Siree Raag, Third Mehl:
People wear all sorts of costumes and wander all around, but in their hearts and minds, they practice deception.They do not attain the Mansion of the Lord's Presence, and after death, they sink into manure. ||1||
O mind, remain detached in the midst of your household.Practicing truth, self-discipline and good deeds, the Gurmukh is enlightened. ||1|| Pause ||
Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, the mind is conquered, and one attains the State of Liberation in one's own home.So meditate on the Name of the Lord; join and merge with the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation. ||2||
You may enjoy the pleasures of hundreds of thousands of women, and rule the nine continents of the world.But without the True Guru, you will not find peace; you will be reincarnated over and over again. ||3||
Those who wear the Necklace of the Lord around their necks, and focus their consciousness on the Guru's Feet-wealth and supernatural spiritual powers follow them, but they do not care for such things at all. ||4||
Whatever pleases God's Will comes to pass. Nothing else can be done.Servant Nanak lives by chanting the Naam. O Lord, please give it to me, in Your Natural Way. ||5||2||35||
Hindi Translation (हिंदी अनुवाद)
श्रीरागु महला ३ ॥
मनुष्य कितने ही तरह-तरह के भेष बना कर इधर-उधर भटकता है, ऐसा करके वह हृदय में छल अर्जित करता है।छलिया मन के साथ मनुष्य प्रभु के दर्शन नहीं पाता और अंततः मर कर वह नरकों की गंदगी में समा जाता है ॥ १॥
हे मन ! गृहस्थ जीवन में रह कर ही मोह-मायादि बंधनों से उदासीन होकर रहो।सत्य व संयम की क्रिया वही करता है, जिस मनुष्य को गुरु के उपदेश द्वारा ज्ञान रूपी प्रकाश प्राप्त हो जाता है ॥ १॥ रहाउ॥
जिसने गुरु के उपदेश द्वारा विषयों-विकारों से मन को जीत लिया है, उसने गृहस्थ जीवन में ही सदगति व मुक्ति पा ली है।हरि का नाम-सिमरन करने से ही सत्संगति द्वारा प्रभु से मिलन होता है ॥ २॥
मनुष्य यदि लाखों स्त्रियों का भोग कर ले, सम्पूर्ण सृष्टि पर राज्य कर ले।तब भी बिना सतिगुरु के आत्मिक सुख नहीं मिलता तथा मनुष्य पुनः पुनः योनियों में पड़ता है।॥ ३॥
जिन्होंने हरि नाम रूपी हार अपने गले में पहन लिया तथा गुरु-चरणों में मन को लीन किया है।उनके पीछे ऋद्धि -सिद्धि आदि सम्पूर्ण शक्तियाँ फिरती हैं, किन्तु उन्हें इन सब की तिनका मात्र मी लालसा नहीं है॥ ४॥
जो ईश्वर को अच्छा लगे वही होता है, अन्य कुछ भी नहीं किया जा सकता।नानक देव जी कथन करते हैं कि हे प्रभु ! मैं आपके नाम-सिमरन द्वारा ही जीवित रहता हूँ. इसलिए आप मुझे शांत स्वभाव प्रदान कीजिए ॥ ५॥ २॥ ३५ ॥
