Siree Raag, Third Mehl:
The Name of the Lord is the Ocean of Peace; the Gurmukhs obtain it.Meditating on the Naam, night and day, they are easily and intuitively absorbed in the Naam.Their inner beings are immersed in the True Lord; they sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||1||
O Siblings of Destiny, the world is in misery, engrossed in the love of duality.In the Sanctuary of the Guru, peace is found, meditating on the Naam night and day. ||1|| Pause ||
The truthful ones are not stained by filth. Meditating on the Lord, their minds remain pure.The Gurmukhs realize the Word of the Shabad; they are immersed in the Ambrosial Nectar of the Lord's Name.The Guru has lit the brilliant light of spiritual wisdom, and the darkness of ignorance has been dispelled. ||2||
The self-willed manmukhs are polluted. They are filled with the pollution of egotism, wickedness and desire.Without the Shabad, this pollution is not washed off; through the cycle of death and rebirth, they waste away in misery.Engrossed in this transitory drama, they are not at home in either this world or the next. ||3||
For the Gurmukh, the love of the Name of the Lord is chanting, deep meditation and self-discipline.The Gurmukh meditates forever on the Name of the One Creator Lord.O Nanak, meditate on the Naam, the Name of the Lord, the Support of all beings. ||4||7||40||
Hindi Translation (हिंदी अनुवाद)
श्रीरागु महला ३ ॥
हरि-नाम सुखों का सागर है तथा इसे गुरु के उपदेशानुसार ही पाया जा सकता है।
प्रतिदिन प्रभु-नाम का चिंतन करने से जीव स्वाभाविक ही परमेश्वर में समा जाता है।यदि जीव का अंतर्मन सत्य स्वरूप परमात्मा के साथ मिल जाए तो जिव्हा हरि-प्रभु का गुणगान करती है ॥ १॥
हे भाई ! द्वैत-भाव के कारण सम्पूर्ण जगत् दुखी हो रहा है।यदि गुरु की शरण में आकर जीव नित्य प्रति नाम-स्मरण करता रहे तो वह आत्मिक सुख प्राप्त करता है ॥ १॥ रहाउ ॥
ऐसे सत्य प्राणी को कभी पापों की मैल नहीं लगती और वह शुद्ध मन से हरि-प्रभु का नाम-सिमरन करता है।गुरु-उपदेश को पहचानने से हरि-प्रभु के अमृत रूपी नाम में समाया जा सकता है।जिस जीव ने अपने हृदय में तीक्ष्ण ज्ञान का दीपक जला लिया तो उसके ह्रदय से अज्ञानता का अंधेरा नष्ट हो जाता है। ॥२॥
स्वेच्छाचारी जीव अहंकार, तृष्णादि विकारों की मैल से मलिन हो रहे हैं।गुरु के उपदेश बिना यह मैल कभी नहीं उतरती, ऐसे में जीव आवागमन के चक्र में फँस कर पीड़ित होता है।वह मायावी क्रीड़ा में खचित हुए रहते हैं और इस कारण वह न तो इस संसार का सुख भोग पाते हैं तथा न ही परलोक का आनंद ले पाते हैं। ॥ ३॥
गुरुमुख जीव जप, तप व संयम में रह कर हरि-प्रभु के नाम से प्रीति करता है।ऐसा जीव सदैव ईश्वर के एक नाम का सिमरन करता है।नानक देव जी कथन करते हैं केि समस्त प्राणियों का आसरा केवल नाम सिमरन ही है ॥४॥७॥४०॥
