Siree Raag, Third Mehl:
The virtuous obtain Truth; they give up their desires for evil and corruption.
Their minds are imbued with the Word of the Guru's Shabad; the Love of their Beloved is on their tongues.Without the True Guru, no one has found Him; reflect upon this in your mind and see.
The filth of the self-willed manmukhs is not washed off; they have no love for the Guru's Shabad. ||1||
O my mind, walk in harmony with the True Guru.
Dwell within the home of your own inner being, and drink in the Ambrosial Nectar; you shall attain the Peace of the Mansion of His Presence. ||1|| Pause ||
The unvirtuous have no merit; they are not allowed to sit in His Presence.
The self-willed manmukhs do not know the Shabad; those without virtue are far removed from God.
Those who recognize the True One are permeated and attuned to Truth.
Their minds are pierced through by the Word of the Guru's Shabad, and God Himself ushers them into His Presence. ||2||
He Himself dyes us in the Color of His Love; through the Word of His Shabad, He unites us with Himself.
This True Color shall not fade away, for those who are attuned to His Love.
The self-willed manmukhs grow weary of wandering around in all four directions, but they do not understand.
One who is united with the True Guru, meets and merges in the True Word of the Shabad. ||3||
I have grown weary of making so many friends, hoping that someone might be able to end my suffering.
Meeting with my Beloved, my suffering has ended; I have attained Union with the Word of the Shabad.
Earning Truth, and accumulating the Wealth of Truth, the truthful person gains a reputation of Truth.
Meeting with the True One, O Nanak, the Gurmukh shall not be separated from Him again. ||4||26||59||
Hindi Translation (हिंदी अनुवाद)
गुणों से विभूषित जीवों ने तृष्णादि विकारों का त्याग करके सत्य स्वरूप को प्राप्त किया है।
उसका हृदय गुरु के उपदेश में रंग गया है और जिव्हा परमात्मा के भक्ति प्रेम में रंग गई है।सतिगुरु के बिना परमात्मा को किसी ने भी नहीं पाया, बेशक अपने हृदय में विचार करके देख लो।
जब तक जीव गुरु के उपदेश से प्रीति नहीं करता, अर्थात् अपना मन गुरु के उपदेश में नहीं टिकाता, ऐसे मनमुख के हृदय से तब तक विषय-विकारों की मैल नष्ट नहीं होती ॥ १ ॥
हे मेरे मन ! तुम सतगुरु की इच्छानुसार चलो
तभी तुम निज स्वरूप में रह कर नामामृत पान कर सकोगे तथा सुख धाम को प्राप्त करोगे॥ १॥ रहाउ॥
जिस जीव में अवगुण ही विद्यमान हैं, कोई भी गुण नहीं है, उनको प्रभु के सम्मुख बैठने का अवसर प्राप्त नहीं होता।
ऐसे स्वेच्छाचारी जीव गुरु के उपदेश को नहीं जानते तथा अवगुणों के कारण वह परमात्मा से दूर रहते हैं।
जिन्होंने सत्य-नाम को पहचाना है, वे उस सत्य-स्वरूप में पूर्ण-रूपेण अनुरक्त हैं।
उनका हृदय गुरु के उपदेश में विंधा गया है तथा परमात्मा उन्हें स्वयं प्रत्यक्ष रूप में मिला है॥ २॥
प्रभु ने स्वयं ही जीवों को अपने रंग में रंगा है तथा गुरु-उपदेश द्वारा अपने साथ मिला लिया है,
जो लिवलीन होकर सत्य परमात्मा में जुड़े हैं, उनका नाम रूपी सत्य रंग नहीं उतरता।
स्वेच्छाचारी जीव सम्पूर्ण सृष्टि में भटकता हुआ थक जाए, किन्तु उन्हें कहीं से भी परमात्मा का रहस्य पता नहीं चल सकता।
जिस जीव को सत्य गुरु मिलाता है, वही मिल पाता है, वह सत्य ब्रह्म में अभेद हो जाता है ॥ ३॥
जीव रूपी स्त्री कहती है कि मैं संसार में अनेकानेक व्यक्तियों को मित्र बना-बना कर थक गई हूँ कि कोई तो मेरा दुख निवृत्त करे।
अंततः प्रियतम प्रभु से मिल कर दुख निवृत्त होता है, जिसका मिलन गुरु उपदेश द्वारा ही संभव है।
सत्य श्रद्धा रूपी पूँजी द्वारा जिसने सत्य-नाम रूपी पदार्थ को कमाया है, उस सत्य की सत्य शोभा होती है।
नानक देव जी कथन करते हैं कि जो जीव गुरुमुख बनकर सत्य स्वरूप में समाए हैं, फिर वे कभी भी सत्य-स्वरूप से बिछुड़ते नहीं हैं। ४॥ २६॥ ५९ ॥
