 Siree Raag, Third Mehl:
Without the Guru, the disease is not cured, and the pain of egotism is not removed.
By Guru's Grace, He dwells in the mind, and one remains immersed in His Name.
Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, the Lord is found; without the Shabad, people wander, deceived by doubt. ||1||
O mind, dwell in the balanced state of your own inner being.
Praise the Lord's Name, and you shall no longer come and go in reincarnation. ||1|| Pause ||
The One Lord alone is the Giver, pervading everywhere. There is no other at all.
Praise the Word of the Shabad, and He shall come to dwell in your mind; you shall be blessed with intuitive peace and poise.
Everything is within the Lord's Glance of Grace. As He wishes, He gives. ||2||
In egotism, all must account for their actions. In this accounting, there is no peace.
Acting in evil and corruption, people are immersed in corruption.
Without the Name, they find no place of rest. In the City of Death, they suffer in agony. ||3||
Body and soul all belong to Him; He is the Support of all.
By Guru's Grace, understanding comes, and then the Door of Liberation is found.
O Nanak, sing the Praises of the Naam, the Name of the Lord; He has no end or limitation. ||4||24||57||
Hindi Translation (हिंदी अनुवाद)
गुरु के बिना नाम की प्राप्ति संभव नहीं, नाम-सिमरन के बिना अहंकार रूपी रोग का निवारण नहीं होता और इस रोग के निवारण के बिना जीव आवागमन के चक्र से मुक्त नहीं होता।
गुरु की कृपा द्वारा मन में नाम बसता है और वह जीव नाम में समाया रहता है।
गुरु के उपदेश द्वारा हरि परमात्मा को पाया जा सकता है, इसके बिना मनमुख व्यक्ति भ्रम में ही भटकते हैं ॥ १॥
हे मेरे मन ! नाम-सिमरन के कारण ही परमात्मा के स्वरूप में निवास होता है।
इसलिए तुम राम-नाम की स्तुति करो, तभी तुम्हारा आवागमन छूट सकेगा ॥ १॥ रहाउ॥
हरि-परमेश्वर दाता एक ही सम्पूर्ण सृष्टि में व्याप्त है, इसके अतिरिक्त दूसरा अन्य कोई नहीं है।
गुरु-उपदेश द्वारा परमात्मा का चिन्तन मन में बस जाए तो सुख सरलता से प्राप्त हो जाता है।
वह परमात्मा अपनी दृष्टि में सभी को देखता है, जिसे वह चाहता उसी को सुख प्रदान करता है॥ २॥
समस्त प्राणी अहंकार में लिप्त होकर पाप-पुण्य, धर्म-कर्म अथवा शुभ कर्मों आदि की गणना करते हैं, किन्तु गणना करने वाले को कोई सुख नहीं मिलता।
ऐसे जीव विषय-विकारों की कमाई ही करते हैं और अंततः इस विष में ही समा जाते हैं।
परमात्मा के नाम के बिना विशेष स्थान प्राप्त नहीं कर पाते तथा परलोक में जाकर दुख सहारते हैं।॥ ३॥
जीव को शरीर आदि सब कुछ उस परमात्मा का दिया हुआ है, सभी को उस परमेश्वर का ही आसरा है।
गुरु की कृपा द्वारा उस परमात्मा को जाने, तभी मोक्ष द्वार की प्राप्ति होती है।
नानक देव जी कहते हैं कि हे जीव ! उस परमात्मा का स्तुति गान करो, जिसके गुणों का अंत नहीं पाया जा सकता ॥ ४॥ २४॥ ५७ ॥
