The double-minded person comes and goes, and has numerous friends.The soul-bride is separated from her Lord, and she has no place of rest; how can she be comforted? ||1||
My mind is attuned to the Love of my Husband Lord.I am devoted, dedicated, a sacrifice to the Lord; if only He would bless me with His Glance of Grace, even for an instant! ||1||Pause||
I am a rejected bride, abandoned in my parents' home; how can I go to my in-laws now?I wear my faults around my neck; without my Husband Lord, I am grieving, and wasting away to death. ||2||
But if, in my parents' home, I remember my Husband Lord, then I will come to dwell in the home of my in-laws yet.The happy soul-brides sleep in peace; they find their Husband Lord, the treasure of virtue. ||3||
Their blankets and mattresses are made of silk, and so are the clothes on their bodies.The Lord rejects the impure soul-brides. Their life-night passes in misery. ||4||
I have tasted many flavors, and worn many robes,but without my Husband Lord, my youth is slipping away uselessly; I am separated from Him, and I cry out in pain. ||5||
I have heard the True Lord's message, contemplating the Guru.True is the home of the True Lord; by His Gracious Grace, I love Him. ||6||
The spiritual teacher applies the ointment of Truth to his eyes, and sees God, the Seer.The Gurmukh comes to know and understand; ego and pride are subdued. ||7||
O Lord, You are pleased with those who are like Yourself; there are many more like me.O Nanak, the Husband does not separate from those who are imbued with Truth. ||8||1||9||
Hindi Translation (हिंदी अनुवाद)
ੴ सतिगुर प्रसादि॥
मारू काफी महला १ घरु २॥
आवागमन में पड़कर दुविधाग्रस्त जीव-स्त्री कितने ही मित्र बनाती है।पति-परमेश्वर से विछुड़ कर उसे कहीं ठिकाना नहीं मिलता, तब उसे कैसे धैर्य हो सकता है॥ १॥
मेरा मन अपने प्रभु के संग लीन है,उसने थोड़ी-सी कृपा-दृष्टि करके आनंदित कर दिया है, अतः मैं खण्ड-खण्ड होकर उस पर न्योछावर जाती हूँ॥ १॥ रहाउ॥
मैं दुहागिन अब तक अपने पीहर (इहलोक) में बसती रही, अब मैं अपने ससुराल (परलोक) कैसे जाऊँ ?मेरे गले में अनेक अवगुण पड़े हुए हैं, पति के बिना मैं अवगुणों से ठगी गई हूँ और झूर-झूर कर मर रही हूँ॥ २॥
यदि पीहर में अपने पति-प्रभु का स्मरण करूँ तो ससुराल में निवास मिल सकता है।जिस सुहागिन ने गुणनिधि प्रभु को पा लिया है, वही सुखी रहती है।॥ ३॥
चाहे वह अपने सोने के लिए लेफ व रेशमी बिस्तर और शरीर में पहनने के लिए रेशमी पोशाक ही बना ले,जिस दुहागिन को पति-प्रभु ने छोड़ दिया है, उसकी जीवन-रात्रि दुखों में ही व्यतीत होती है॥ ४॥
निस्संकोच कितने ही पदाथों के स्वाद चखती रहूँ, कितने ही सुन्दर पहनावे धारण करती रहूँ,परन्तु प्रभु के बिना यौवन व्यर्थ है, उससे बिछुड़ी चिंताग्रस्त रहती हूँ॥ ५॥
गुरु के ज्ञान-विचार द्वारा सच्चे प्रभु का सच्चा उपदेश सुनना चाहिए।जब सच्चे की प्रेम भरी कृपा-दृष्टि हो जाती है तो जीव-स्त्री का आचरण सत्य-सा हो जाता है और वह उसके प्रेम में ही लीन रहती है॥ ६॥
ज्ञानी व्यक्ति देखने के लिए सत्य का अञ्जन लगाकर ईश्वर को ही देखता है।अगर गुरमुख बनकर अहम् अभिमान का निवारण किया जाए तो सत्य को बूझा एवं जाना जा सकता है॥ ७॥
हे पति-परमेश्वर ! जो जीव-स्त्रियों तुझे प्रिय हैं, वह तो तुझ जैसी ही सुन्दर हैं परन्तु मुझ जैसी अनेक (दुहागिन) हैं।हे नानक ! जो प्रभु-प्रेम में रत रहती हैं, उनका कदापि वियोग नहीं होता॥ ८॥ १॥ ६॥
