I am a sacrifice, O my soul, to those who take the Support of the Name of the Lord, Har, Har.The Guru, the True Guru, implanted the Name within me, O my soul, and He has carried me across the terrifying world-ocean of poison.Those who have meditated one-pointedly on the Lord, O my soul - I proclaim the Victory of those saintly beings.Nanak has found peace, meditating on the Lord, O my soul; the Lord is the Destroyer of all pain. ||1||
Blessed, blessed is that tongue, O my soul, which sings the Glorious Praises of the Lord God.Sublime and splendid are those ears, O my soul, which listen to the Kirtan of the Lord's Praises.Sublime, pure and pious is that head, O my soul, which falls at the Guru's Feet.Nanak is a sacrifice to that Guru, O my soul; the Guru has placed the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, in my mind. ||2||
Blessed and approved are those eyes, O my soul, which gaze upon the Holy True Guru.Sacred and sanctified are those hands, O my soul, which write the Praises of the Lord, Har, Har.I worship continually the feet of that humble being, O my soul, who walks on the Path of Dharma - the path of righteousness.Nanak is a sacrifice to those, O my soul, who hear of the Lord, and believe in the Lord's Name. ||3||
The earth, the nether regions of the underworld, and the Akaashic ethers, O my soul, all meditate on the Name of the Lord, Har, Har.The woods, the meadows and the whole world, O my soul, chant with their mouths the Lord's Name, and meditate on the Lord.O Nanak, one who, as Gurmukh, focuses his consciousness on the Lord's devotional worship - O my soul, he is robed in honor in the Court of the Lord. ||4||4||
Hindi Translation (हिंदी अनुवाद)
बिहागड़ा महला ४ ॥
हे मेरी आत्मा ! मैं उन पर बलिहारी जाता हूँ, जिन्होंने परमेश्वर के नाम को अपने जीवन का आधार बनाया हुआ है।हे मेरी आत्मा ! गुरु-सतगुरु ने मेरे मन में परमात्मा का नाम बसा दिया है और उन्होंने मुझे भवसागर से पार कर दिया है।हे मेरी आत्मा ! जिन्होंने एकाग्रचित होकर ईश्वर का ध्यान किया है, उन संतजनों की मैं जय-जयकार करता हूँ।नानक का कथन है कि हे मेरी आत्मा ! हरि का जाप करने से सुख की उपलब्धि होती है, क्योंकि वह सर्व दुःखनाशक है॥ १॥
हे मेरी आत्मा ! वह रसना धन्य-धन्य है जो भगवान का यशोगान करती रहती है।वे कान भी भले तथा अति सुन्दर हैं जो भगवान का भजन-कीर्तन सुनते रहते हैं।वह सिर भी भला तथा पवित्र-पावन है जो गुरु के चरणों में जाकर लगता है।हे मेरी आत्मा ! नानक उस गुरु पर न्यौछावर होता है, जिन्होंने भगवान का नाम याद करवाया है॥ २॥
वे नेत्र भी शुभ एवं (सत्य के दरबार में) स्वीकार हैं जो साधु सतिगुरु के दर्शन करते हैं।वे हाथ भी पुनीत एवं पवित्र हैं जो हरि यश एवं हरि-हरि नाम लिखते रहते हैं।उस भक्त के चरणों की नित्य ही पूजा करनी चाहिए, जो धर्म-मार्ग का अनुसरण करता रहता है।हे मेरी आत्मा ! नानक उन पर न्यौछावर होता है, जो हरि-यश सुनते हैं और उसके नाम पर आस्था धारण करते हैं।॥ ३॥
हे मेरी आत्मा ! धरती, पाताल तथा आकाश सभी परमात्मा के नाम की आराधना करते हैं।पवन, पानी एवं अग्नि नित्य ही परमेश्वर का यश गाते रहते हैं।वन, तृण तथा सारा जगत ही अपने मुख से ईश्वर के नाम का सुमिरन करते हैं।नानक का कथन है कि हे मेरी आत्मा ! जो व्यक्ति गुरुमुख बनकर परमात्मा की भक्ति को मन में धारण करते हैं, उन्हें सत्य के दरबार में ऐश्वर्य-परिधान पहनाकर प्रतिष्ठित किया जाता है॥ ४॥ ४ ॥
