The True Creator Lord is True - know this well; He is the True Sustainer. He Himself fashioned His Own Self; the True Lord is invisible and infinite. He brought together, and then separated, the two grinding stones of the earth and the sky; without the Guru, there is only pitch darkness. He created the sun and the moon; night and day, they move according to His Thought. ||1||
O True Lord and Master, You are True. O True Lord, bless me with Your Love. || Pause ||
You created the Universe; You are the Giver of pain and pleasure. You created woman and man, the love of poison, and emotional attachment to Maya. The four sources of creation, and the power of the Word, are also of Your making. You give Support to all beings. You have made the Creation as Your Throne; You are the True Judge. ||2||
You created comings and goings, but You are ever-stable, O Creator Lord. In birth and death, in coming and going, this soul is held in bondage by corruption. The evil person has forgotten the Naam; he has drowned - what can he do now? Forsaking merit, he has loaded the poisonous cargo of demerits; he is a trader of sins. ||3||
The beloved soul has received the Call, the Command of the True Creator Lord. The soul, the husband, has become separated from the body, the bride. The Lord is the Re-uniter of the separated ones. No one cares for your beauty, O beautiful bride.; the Messenger of Death is bound only by the Lord Commander's Command. He does not distinguish between young children and old people; he tears apart love and affection. ||4||
Hindi Translation (हिंदी अनुवाद)
वडहंसु महला १ दखणी ॥
सच्चे सृष्टिकर्ता परमपिता को ही सत्य समझना चाहिए; वह सच्चा परमेश्वर सारी दुनिया का पालनहार है। जिसने स्वयं ही अपने आप को उत्पन्न किया हुआ है, वह सत्यस्वरूप परमेश्वर अदृष्ट एवं अपार है। उसने पृथ्वी एवं गगन दोनों को जोड़कर उन्हें अलग कर दिया है। इस दुनिया में गुरु के बिना घोर अन्धेरा है। सूर्य एवं चन्द्रमा की रचना भी परमेश्वर ने ही की है जो दिन एवं रात को उजाला करते हैं। उसकी इस जगत-लीला का विचार करो ॥ १॥
हे सच्चे मालिक ! तू ही सत्य है, कृपा करके मुझे अपना सच्चा प्रेम दीजिए॥ रहाउ॥
हे परमपिता ! तूने ही सृष्टि-रचना की है और तू ही जीवों को दुःख-सुख देने वाला है। स्त्री एवं पुरुष तेरी ही रचना है और तूने ही मोह-माया का विष एवं (वासना का) प्रेम उत्पन्न किया है। उत्पत्ति के चारों स्रोत एवं विभिन्न वाणियाँ भी तेरी ही रचना है एवं तू ही जीवों को आधार प्रदान करता है। अपनी कुदरत को तूने अपना सिंहासन बनाया हुआ है और तू ही सच्चा न्यायकर्ता है॥ २॥
हे विश्व के रचयिता ! जीवों का आवागमन अर्थात् जन्म-मृत्यु का चक्र तूने ही बनाया है और तुम सदा अमर हो। जीवात्मा विकारों में ग्रस्त होकर जन्म-मरण, आवागमन के चक्र में फंसी हुई है। दुष्टात्मा वाले जीव ने भगवान के नाम को विस्मृत कर दिया है, जिसके फलस्वरूप वह मोह-माया में प्रवृत्त है और इसका अब क्या उपचार है ? गुणों को त्यागकर इसने बुराइयों को लाद लिया है और वह अवगुणों का व्यापारी बन बैठा है॥ ३॥
सच्चे करतार के हुक्म द्वारा प्यारी आत्मा को निमंत्रण आता है तो पति (आत्मा) पत्नी (शरीर) से जुदा हो जाता है। किन्तु उन बिछुड़ों हुओं को परमात्मा ही मिलाने वाला है। हे सुन्दरी ! मृत्यु सौन्दर्य की परवाह नहीं करती और यमदूत भी अपने मालिक के हुक्म में बंधे हुए हैं। यमदूत बालक एवं वृद्ध के बीच कोई फर्क नहीं समझते और दुनिया से स्नेह एवं प्रेम को तोड़ देते हैं।॥ ४॥
